Are dogs allowed on the Light Walk?

Dogs are allowed if leashed. Please bring your dog waste bags.

Is it allowed to photograph or film?

Taking pictures with your mobile phone or a camera without flash is allowed, except if film, image or sound material is used for commercial purposes. We do ask you to leave your tripod and other large equipment at home.

How long does the walk last?

The walking route is about 2.5 kilometers. The performance takes about an hour. Once inside, you complete the trail at your own pace.

Are there enough toilets?

There are toilets at the entrance and a little over half way through the walk. There is a disabled toilet at the entrance.

Can I fly with a drone above the park of de Haar Castle?

It is not permitted to fly over the park of de Haar Castle with a drone.

Is this activity suitable for young children?

Certainly! It is a real park walk of about 2.5 km. The trail is not scary but magical and fairy-like.

Is there camera surveillance on the premises?

The castle is under video surveillance 24/7. A video surveillance system is operational at de Haar Castle . Visitors agree that video recordings can be made of them. The potential visitor will be informed before entering the ensemble de Haar Castle that his measure is in force. Camera images will be kept for a period to be decided by de Haar Castle and will be made available to the police if necessary.

Will the light walk continue in less-than-perfect weather?

Yes, at all times the light walk will continue, even in wind, rain and snow. Be sure to bring a warm (rain) coat and boots.

We only rebook tickets if the park is closed due to a storm. We cannot rebook or refund tickets in case of rain.

Where can I buy tickets?

Tickets can be purchased through our ticket shop.

Is a QR code required to access the Light Walk?

The corona ticket is no longer necessary. Anyone can attend the event.

Is the museum annual pass or Friends Lottery VIP card valid for the light walk?

The Museum Annual Card and the Friends Lottery VIP Card are not usable for the Luminous Nights of Castle de Haar.

Do children up to age 4 need a ticket?

Children up to 4 years old have free access to The Luminous Nights of Castle de Haar. They do not need a ticket for this and can simply enter with parents/guardians.

Can I have the tickets scanned on my smartphone?

Yes it is possible to scan the tickets on your smartphone, so a paper version of the tickets is not necessary. However, please make sure that your phone is charged before you go to the event. Also, your screen needs to be intact and for a fast flow we ask you to set your screen brightness to maximum.

What if the Light Walk is cancelled?

If the light walk cannot take place during the 2022/2023 Christmas vacations, there are two possible options: the light walk will be moved to later in 2023 or the light walk will be moved to Christmas 2024. Tickets will remain valid or you will receive a refund.

Can I cancel my tickets?

Yes, but only through do. Nov. 30. After that, unfortunately, it is no longer possible.

Are the castle tours included in the ticket price?

No, guided tours of the castle are not included. The castle is not accessible in the evening. You can find more information about these guided tours on www.kasteeldehaar.nl.

Route & parking

How can I buy a parking ticket?

You can buy another parking ticket through this link .

Where can I park my car?

Address: Parkweg 5, 3455 RH Haarzuilens. Please follow the signage once you are in the neighborhood.
Important: There is no vehicular access via Castle Avenue, the normal entrance to the parking lot. Please follow the designated route.
Reservation Necessary: It is essential that you reserve your parking ticket in advance. Don't have a parking ticket yet? Then follow this link.
Parking is prohibited in the immediate area, which is strictly enforced by the police.
You will be escorted by traffic and parking controllers. During the event, normal traffic rules are in effect and the traffic and parking controllers will give directions.

Can de Haar Castle be reached by public transport?

From Utrecht Central

Take the sprinter towards The Hague Central Station to Vleuten station.

From Vleuten station

Bus 127 direction Breukelen (stop Brink in Haarzuilens), 15 min walk.

Note: The last bus arrives at 7:03 p.m. & leaves upon returning at 7:12 p.m.

Can I park my bicycle or scooter?

Yes free, but unguarded, bike parking directly across from the entrance. No bicycles are allowed in the park.

Accessibility

Are the Luminous Nights wheelchair friendly?

The walk through the park goes far various gravel paths and unpaved roads, keep this in mind if you come with a wheelchair.
Wheelchair-friendly crossings are provided at cables and bridges of +/- 80 centimeters wide.

There are no wheelchairs available at the event. If you need a wheelchair you will need to bring your own.

Is the course accessible for prams?

Make sure you have a pram with large wheels as there are gravel paths on the route.
